HISTORY IN THE MAKING myTECHNIC is a partnership formed by the top aviation pioneers in Turkey, Yavuz Çizmeci and Cankut Bagana, together with HBK Investments LP – a global hedge fund with nine billon dollars in assets. Formed with a capital investment of US$ 45 million, maintenance, repair and overhaul a full line of services will be performed in this 45,000 square meter facility situated on just over 55,650 square meters of land at the Sabiha Gokçen International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey. The installation will of service Airbus A318-319-320-321, A300B4, and Boeing 737,757,767 and MD80 series engines. From the earliest planning stages, its Board of Directors was determined that the myTECHNIC installation would infuse “Lean Principals” into its every aspect; from the design of the building and layout of the shop floors, throughout its operations and into its organizational structure. Pioneered by Toyota, Lean Principals were first spread throughout manufacturing sectors and later to service providers, ranging from utilities to financial services and now to the aviation industry. Lean techniques eliminate waste, reducing costs and paradoxically increasing quality. Lean is a holistic approach which eliminates items and process steps the customer doesn’t value thus earning a reputation as a customer-centric approach. From the beginning myTECHNIC’s staff has worked in tandem with HR Consulting firm UNIDA and Oliver Wyman Consulting, an industry leading consulting firm with particular expertise in both aviation and lean enterprise. The result- myTECHNIC is set to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, aircraft maintenance solutions with industry-leading turn-around times.
